Durante la primera década del siglo XX, la migración europea en Chile reunió a deportistas de origen germano interesados en explorar la cordillera de los Andes. Con la intención de replicar la cultura de montaña alpina, la emergente comunidad montañista dio vida al actual legado de refugios de montaña construidos durante los años 30’. Hoy dan cuenta de un patrimonio olvidado, que representa uno de los cuántos intentos por habitar la indómita cordillera de los Andes en Chile.

During the first decade of the 20th Century, the European migration in Chile gathers snow sportsmen of German origin interested in exploring the Andes mountains. With the aim to replicate the Alpine culture, the emerging mountaineer community gave birth to the existing legacy of mountain huts built during the third decade of the twentieth century. Today, they expose a forgotten heritage, which represent one of the many attempts to inhabit the indomitable mountain ranges of the Andes.
