Sacromonte Landscape Hotel sustituye las habitaciones continuas por refugios dispersos en el paisaje y los ascensores y pasillos por sinuosos senderos, sin dejar de lado el confort y la sofisticación propios de un hotel urbano. 4 refugios se diseminan por la topografía de Sacromonte buscando los mejores lugares donde posicionarse.
Sacromonte es un emprendimiento sustentable que incorpora la dimensión ambiental en todas sus decisiones. Construcciones prefabricadas, vidrios de baja emisividad, cubiertas verdes, uso de materiales locales para obras en sitio, utilización de aguas naturales y tratamiento de aguas residuales, son algunas de las estrategias que terminan de configurar a Sacromonte como una campo de acontecimientos que coexisten armoniosamente.
Las habitaciones -refugios- de Sacromonte nacen en una fábrica en el área metropolitana de Montevideo. Se trata de un proceso rápido, de menos de 10 semanas, para luego ser transportadas más de 200km en un solo día. Al dejar la ciudad atrás, las habitaciones dejan de serlo, para transformarse en refugios de paisaje, dejan de ser objetos para devenir experiencias.
En su estructura metálica modular, que combina marcos de acero y marcos de acero ligero, prima la simpleza constructiva y el uso eficiente de los materiales. Sus terminaciones son simples y contundentes, los materiales son usados según su naturaleza.
En contraste, los muros que reciben los módulos prefabricados son construidos en simultáneo en el lugar con piedras locales que toman diversas formas orgánicas y se adaptan para posibilitar cada implantación.
Los espacios se organizan en una secuencia de capas longitudinales de diferentes espesores entre los que se desarrolla la vida. El plano posterior se compone de un apilamiento de troncos de madera que rememora a los apilamientos de leña propios de la vida en la naturaleza.
La siguiente capa alberga las áreas húmedas de baño y cocina, una estufa a leña y un hueco profundo ideal para leer un libro o dormir una siesta cobijado en el paisaje. Separado por un plano de madera, sigue el espacio principal de dormitorio, living y comedor, que se abre completamente al paisaje al que enfrenta, siendo parte de él.
El plano frontal se conforma con un plano de vidrio espejado que cubre de un efecto casi mágico al refugio, posicionándolo en un tenso límite: entre el camuflaje y el tiempo de la naturaleza y el brillo irreal de lo tecnológico y del hoy.
Sacromonte Landscape Hotel replaces the traditional hotel room for shelters scattered in the landscape and the elevators and corridors for sinuous paths, without puting aside the comfort and sophistication of an urban hotel. Four shelters are scattered over the topography of Sacromonte looking for the best locations to be placed.
Sacromonte is a sustainable project that incorporates the environmental dimension in all it decisions. Prefabricated constructions, low emissivity glasses, green roofs, use of local resources, use of natural water and sewage treatment are some of the strategies that shape Sacromonte as a field of actions that coexist harmoniously.
The rooms -shelters- of Sacromonte were made in a factory inside the metropolitan area of Montevideo. It was a quick process, of less than ten weeks, to later be moved to more than 200 kilometers in only one day. Leaving the city backwards, the rooms cease to be rooms, to turn into shelters of landscape, they cease to be objects to becoming experiences.
In the iron structure, that combines steel frames and light steel frames, prevails the construction simplicity and the efficient use of materials. It interior and exterior finishes are simple and overwhelming, the materials are used according to their nature.
In contrast, the walls that holds the prefabricated structure were built simultaneously in the place with stones that take different shapes and adapt to enable each implantation.
The spaces organize in a sequence of longitudinal layers of different thickness. Life develops between them. The rear facade is composed of stacking logs that reminisce the wood accumulation which is part of life in nature.
The following layer defines the humid areas of bathroom and kitchen, a wood stove and a deep hollow which is ideal to read a book or take a nap surrounded by the landscape. Separated by a wall of wood, follows the main space of bed, living and dinning room, which opens completely to the landscape, being part of it.
The frontal facade is made by a reflecting glass which covers the shelter with an almost magic atmosphere, putting it into a tense limit: between the camouflage and the nature time and the unreal spark of the current technology.
