Las limitaciones de este sitio sugieren la construcción de una casa en la forma de un bloque largo, perpendicular a la franja costera y sobre el sector plano del terreno. Un bloque suficientemente estrecho para ubicarse en el extremo sur-oriente, que permitirá vistas protegidas al océano sin ser avistado por los vecinos al poniente y norponiente. Asumiendo este dato, se abre la cancha para integrar una gama de deseos sobre como habitar este edificio.

Segmentamos este bloque alargado de manera que se intercalen patios e interiores dentro de un mismo volumen. El más importante sería un “jardín de invierno” de mayor tamaño. Un espacio intermedio entre el estar integrado (living + cocina + comedor + servicios) y los espacios de trabajo (oficina + taller + departamento invitados) –el núcleo más urbano del conjunto.

La estructura abovedada –análoga a los antiguos arcos de medio punto– integra dentro de un volumen máximo de clima temperado –todo el año– bloques de programa compacto. Hace referencia a formas arcaicas, como también a la de un nuevo invernadero que toma el lugar donde antes había un huerto. Esta estética agro-industrial (y económica) se aplica a todas las terminaciones del edificio, trabajada con el cuidado que requiere un programa residencial.

Una vivienda íntima pero abierta al paisaje, compacta y a la vez amplia, combinando ocio, trabajo y descanso en un mismo volumen reconocible desde la distancia. 

Una vivienda diseñada desde la visión de sus habitantes. Una residencia para artistas que podrán aprovechar el acto de trabajar en un entorno natural.

The limitations of this plot suggest the construction of a house in the form of a long block, perpendicular to the coastline and situated on the flat section of the land. A block narrow enough to be placed at the southeast end, allowing for protected ocean views without being visible to neighbors to the west and northwest. Given this, there is an opportunity to integrate a range of desires about how to inhabit this building.

We segment this elongated block so that courtyards and interiors are interspersed within the same volume. The most important would be a larger "winter garden." An intermediate space between the integrated living area (living room + kitchen + dining room + services) and the workspaces (office + workshop + guest apartment) – the most urban core of the complex.

The vaulted structure – analogous to ancient semicircular arches – integrates compact program blocks within a maximum volume suited for temperate climates year-round. It references archaic forms, as well as that of a new greenhouse taking the place of a former garden. This agro-industrial (and economic) aesthetic is applied to all the finishes of the building, crafted with the care required for a residential program.

An intimate yet open home to the landscape, compact yet spacious, combining leisure, work, and rest in a recognizable volume from a distance.

A residence designed from the perspective of its inhabitants. A home for artists who will benefit from working in a natural environment.
